Hey I don't think I am going to get much financial aid and I wanted to know if the student loan program is good and if it will be affordable when I graduate?
ND Admissions
Hey Megan -
I recommend that you visit Financial Aid’s web-site regarding this. It’s website is http://financialaid.nd.edu. Notre Dame offers several different types of loans, spanning from need-based federal loans to non-need-based private loans with competitive interest rates. It’s hard for me to answer your question further on this type of forum.
Good luck with your decision.
Jean - Union City, CA
I've been told that job recruitment is not so great on campus, is this true? Also, the only thing stopping me choosing Notre Dame over Cal is the cost; Notre Dame gave great financial aid but I want to know if this amount might go down if my academics and financial situation stays the same.
ND Admissions
Hi Jean -
Firstly, about employment at Notre Dame. There are more than enough jobs for all interested students at Notre Dame. The Office of Student Employment has an online Job Board that provides a good starting place in looking for a job. In addition, several departments actually recruit for student employees at the beginning of the school year. If you have a certain interest, I recommend that you go to that department and ask whether or not they are hiring. This is the best way to get the job that you want.
Regarding whether or not your financial aid might decrease, as long as your family’s financial situation stays relatively the same, and the number of your siblings in undergraduate school doesn’t change, you should not experience significant changes in your financial aid award. In fact, with increases in the cost of attendance, you may experience small increases each year. If income does change significantly, or the number of your siblings in undergraduate schools changes, your aid may adjust accordingly, whether up or down, depending what the circumstances are.

Hi Cindy,
You are not required to visit campus before enrolling in August, however many students come to campus to have their questions answered and/or solidify their desire to attend the University.

ND Admissions

Jess - Edina, MN
Are there a lot of club activities (i'm interested in a running club) at Notre Dame that are easy to get involved in?
ND Admissions
Hi Jess -
I recommend that you visit the Student Activities Office website for comprehensive information about clubs at ND. But, there is a huge number of student groups on campus covering almost every facet of student life. One of the first weekends at ND, there’s an Activies Night wher all the group gather and students can sign up.
Specifically from the Student Activities Office website, view the comprehensive list of clubs. This will give you an idea of what’s out there. If you do not find what you’re looking for, you can work with the SAO to organize one of your own. As for a running club, I know that there is a women’s club, but I’m not certain about a men’s. That said, there are always people running around the lakes, so you won’t have a problem finding a running partner.

Two short questions:
1) Have there been any international students majoring in architecture at Notre Dame? If so, how did they solve their visa issues with regard to the Rome program during their junior year?
2) Is it possible to double major in architecture and something else? I want to do architecture and business, but from what I've heard architecture itself is very demanding.
Thank you!
ND Admissions
Hi David,
1) We do have international students who major in architecture. To be honest with you, I am not sure how they work out their visa issues, but I’m sure they are helped through the International Student Services and Activities office with all of their visa issues. We will help you!
2) It will be very difficult to double major with architecture and something else. Architecture is already very demanding (it’s the only five-year program on campus), so it may be tough to take a second major with it.

At ND, we’d hope that roommates can work through their differences before it escalated to this level. It’d be a rare case, but hopefully your roommate experience is enjoyable!
